Activities Coordinator Nancy McInerney coordinates these day trips to various locations throughout New England. We have visited candy makers, museums, concerts, cruises and much more. Look for information on upcoming trips in each month’s Sentinel and right here on this page.

Ben & Jerry’s Tour – Vermont
Friday, April 28 – 8:45 AM to 9:30 PM
Price: $71.00 (Driver Gratuity Included)

We are heading to Vermont for the day. Our trip will begin with lunch at Bryant House where we will have the choice of a delicious lunch selections of the Traditional Turkey Dinner; Vermont Cheddar & Macaroni with side of Applewood Smoked Ham; a Vermont Spirit Salad (chicken, fresh apples, Cabot cheddar cheese, celery, waluts, grapes, with Vermont maple yogurt dressing); or Half Sandwich with Homemade Soup of the Day or Vermont Country Store Clam Chowder. After lunch we will visit the Ben and Jerry Ice Cream Factory in Waterbury! This 30 minute guided tour includes a sample of their ice cream of the day! Additional taste test sized samples are offered in the scoop shop upon request. We will end our day in Vermont at the Cabot Cheese shop located at the Vermont Annex. We will leave the Center at 8:45 AM and arrive back at approximately 9:30 PM.

If you haven’t seen Loretta LaRoche, a senior woman herself, this is the time to catch and experience her positive and hysterical outlook on living life to the fullest. Pick up your ticket rom Nancy in the Lobby of the Theatre on May 10 between 1:40 and 1:55 PM.
Pickity Place – Friday, May 26

Many folks have been asking for some time to go her. Well, NOW is the time to sign up for this adventure to Mason, N.H.! We will be brought back to a time when life was simple as we explore the diverse gardens of Pickity Place from their butterfly garden to their kitchen garden. Make sure to visit the 200 year old cottage that was the inspiration for grandmother’s house in Elizabeth Orton Jones’ “Little Red Riding Hood”. Our lunch will be a five course feast with two entrees to choose from (Beef Florentine or a Grilled Asparagus Farmer’s Cheese Turnover. In addition, we will have plenty of time to look around their gift shop before we head home.
Tall Ships – June 18
Depart: 8:00 AM – Return: 4:00 PM

Sail Boston is hosting it’s largest fleet of tall ships since 2000, and our group will be among them. Sail Boston currently expects more than 20 ships haling from all over the world. We are going to be part of the action, as a guest aboard the Schooner Thomas E. Lannon, one of the participating vessels. After our sailing excursion, we will go to the Prudential Center to expand our tastes in the all new Eataly! After lunch (on our own) we’ll have some time to check out the shops at the Prudential Center before heading home.
There are only 49 seats available on this trip! Sign up early, do not hesitate because the final head count is due on Thursday, May 25, and we are not able to issue tickets or refunds after this date.
Boston Duck Tour – Friday, June 30
Depart: 11:15 AM – Return: 5:00 PM

We depart from the Prudential Center for an 80 minute narrated Boston tour. Boston “Ducks” are WWII amphibious style vehicles that travel on land and in water!. We will see many of Boston’s famous sites and even take a dip into the Charles River for a skyline view. Before the tour, we will enjoy a family style lunch at one of Boston’s favorites, Maggiano’s Italian Restaurant!
We make every effort to accommodate the special needs of participants here at the Center and on Trips. We recommend that persons have sufficient mobility and that persons who require assistance with activities of daily living have a companion join them. We regret that we cannot to responsible for special individual assistance for walking, dining, or personal needs.
Also, if you are planning to attend a trip and need to park your vehicle at the center for the day, designated parking in the back of the center by the barn is mandatory.
Day Trips Cancellation Policy
If you cancel on or before the cutoff date you will receive a full refund. If you cancel after the cutoff date you will only receive a 50% refund.
