NEW PROGRAMS

There are so many new and returning programs at the Center! Check out some of them below and maybe try something new.

Project Linus

Do You like to knit, crochet or quilt, or know someone who does? By combining your time and talent, your very own “home made blanket” you can make a difference in the life of a child. Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Project Linus have teamed up to provide blankets to children who have experienced a recent trauma. From the sudden death of a parent to displacement from a fire, the District Attorney’s Office encounters children each week who would benefit from the comfort of a blanket. Research has shown that the softness and warmth of a blanket can help children cope with distress. To learn more about the need for blankets and how you can help support this partnership, stop by the Senior Center to visit with District Attorney Marian Ryan and representatives of Project Linus on Wednesday, April 19 at 10:00 PM.

Overnight Trips

The Senior Center is now offering
overnight trips through Durgan Travel Services here in Stoneham. We are offering three trips for this year to Portugal, Nashville, and Sorento! These trips are available to seniors in our community and our partnership with Durgan Travel will benefit the Senior Center.

Stoneham Singers for Men and Women

Do you like to sing? Have you sung in Choirs or Chorus in the past? Then join one of our groups in March. The Stoneham Singers prepare on Mondays at 2:15 PM during March and April. In May, the group will perform programs of show tunes and patriotic songs. Last season, the singers entertained at the Bear Hill Nursing Facility and Nursing Home, as well as Arnold House, the Arbors of Stoneham, and sang for the Senior Center Holiday Party. Meet with Director/Pianist, Regina Matthews on Mondays at 2:15 PM (second floor of the Senior Center). This program is sponsored by MELD.

Stoneham Community Chorale

“Connecting the Community one song at a time”. This group is under the talented direction of Tudor Bota. We sing a variety of songs that delight the ear and soul. No audition required. You are welcome to try us out before making a decision to join. The group is open to anyone who loves to sing and learn in an enjoyable, non-threatening environment. Join us! Rehearsals run every Thursday until June 1 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
